I trained as a formal metalsmith making vessels and items of Art and Function. About 20 years ago I was asked to make a Turtle. I ignored this request for about 6 months then made a copper turtle. I was amazed by the power of that first piece and pleased by the responses of people who saw it. Since then I've made hundreds of one of a kind Turtles and pendants of Copper, Silver and Gold for all kinds of people.
These Turtles and pendants are owned by people who in their own words, "never wear jewelry" but are drawn to these Turtles like bees to pollen. (I was a beekeeper for 7 years)
I know a woman who always wears her Three Opals Turtle when she travels. She comes home so happy because the Turtle draws warm and loving responses to her while she is away and it does not matter what part of the world she has been to, interesting people are drawn to her when she is wearing her Turtle.
Turtles have been gifted to children even prior to their births as an appeal to the Spirits/Gods to watch over and protect the child through life. I know a man who uses art putty to hold his Turtle to his car dashboard as a reminder that he is loved and to Go Slow. Remember, the Tortoise beat the Hare and didn't get a ticket either.
When able I will post images of new Turtles and pendants, a bit about them and their selling price if they are for sale. I am not a mass production metalsmith. All the Turtles and pendants I make are one of a kind though similar in motif.
Most Turtles are abouty 2 inches tall by 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches wide. Smaller Turtles are 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches tall and 3/4 to 1 inch wide. Specific sizes can be discussed prior to ordering.
***Prices typically range from $40.00 to $100.00 and up depending on materials and embellishment.
All Turtles are gift boxed and mailed by USPS in a bubble mailer. Shipping is @cost. Insurance is required for the sale value.
If you have a favorite stone, button or other item/image of importance you would like to have mounted in a turtle or pendant let me know. Mass produced items are considered for speciality gift shops, corporate/business and family gifting.
